God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain
(Hebrews 4:12)
I thought I was pretty well acquainted with the Bible, having read and heard quite a bit of it over the course of my life (I had even memorized a couple passages for my confirmation into the Lutheran church). But when I got serious and started really reading the Word, I was amazed at the things I discovered! Like God having emotions (a wide range in fact) which is still pretty amazing to me. I learned so much about who I am, who God is, and how the world works. I was surprised to read about things like alcoholism, self-mutilation and very real relationship dynamics I've had to deal with - even though the text is like, 2000 years old (or thereabouts lol).
There was a time that I wondered how people could honestly read the same damn book over and over but never get bored with it. I read as many books as I could get my hands on when I was younger; I read every single book in the Nancy Drew, Babysitters Club, and Sweet Valley Twins series just to name a few. But the Bible is not just a regular book - it's the living, breathing, inspired Word of God and the spiritual truths it holds are imparted to us through revelation of the Holy Spirit, as we grow and mature. Scripture tells us that the things of God are spiritually discerned and therefore they often seem foolish or absurd to someone who has never encountered the Spirit of God.
Once I got to reading the Word, I felt my heart begin to change, and I discovered so many passages that I wish I had heard sooner - promises I could have stood on, Truths that would have given me insight about what to do when I was feeling lost. I don't remember ever hearing these in church and not even at the Billy Graham conference I was forced to attend as a teenager (lol).
So, I want to make this page a place to give you all the scriptures that are important to me, that helped build me into the person I am today and share the verses that I pray when I'm having a hard time getting back up and the world feels like it's in complete darkness. I hope you are encouraged and strengthened by these, and I encourage you to crack open the Bible yourself; there will be information on this page about choosing a Bible and how to read the Bible and that kind of thing :)
May God bless you with His love and peace today. Thank you for being here <3

But we know the Truth!
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12)
We stand strong in the Authority given to us through the blood of Jesus Christ.
"For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds." (2 Corinthians 10:4)
